The best part of this school to me is that it's small. Every teacher knows every student, even if they aren't in their class. The English curriculum is good, but, especially in middle school, the math curriculum can be lacking. We're a charter school, so we have some more freedom to express our views on topics like Christianity. Another downside is that uniforms are required, although there are some options in things like color. The rules sometimes seem too strict, even though administration's heart is in a good place. There is not a huge presence of drugs or smoking on campus, although every once in a while something will happen but it is taken care of in a strict and timely manner.

I have gone to Literacy First Charter School since kindergarten and cannot imagine my life without them.

I really enjoy going to Literacy First Charter School. As a first-year student, I have really enjoyed meeting all the teachers. Since it is a public school, some kids are not great, but there are also many good kids. The academics are great and the overall school culture is aimed at inspiring students.

It was a good school the people were great and the staff made you feel as if you were surrounded by people with good morals. But the school is very small and doesn’t open up a lot of opportunities for students.

We've been a part of LFCS for 11 years. Now all 4 of my kids are in school there and we are so thankful for a safe, consistent learning environment for them. I so appreciate that the school takes a neutral position on any and all political or controversial issues, and instead encourages kids to ask their parents what their family values are. Also, there are regular meetings where parents are encouraged to attend and learn more about the inner workings of the school. And I'm always impressed with the school's financial transparency and fiscal responsibility. They operate within the budget and welcome questions from parents regarding spending. As a teacher of Literacy First Charter Schools, I can attest to the exceptional quality of the school. Being an educator who has taught in other schools, as well as colleges, I can say that this is the best place I have ever taught. I choose to teach at LFCS because the staff, students, and parents work together to create an atmosphere that is focused on quality academics and the development of the whole student.
